A quick Thank You!

We could NOT have gotten this project done if not for Ken Rodenas from Western Ohio Mortgage.

With our particular financial situation, we had to go to an alternate route to get the financing for such a large project. I was referred to Ken by Sean McKay at Lynx Financial (thanks, Sean) and was basically told Western Ohio Mortgage was the ONLY company who could do our specific loan.

Without question, Ken was absolutely amazing. He showed tremendous patience with us and the litany of problems/questions that arose. It was a long and arduous process that took just about three whole months from start to finish. Ken was ALWAYS there to deal with an issue or just provide a little pep talk when things were looking bleak. You have no idea how much it helped get us (ME) through it all. And I cannot thank him enough!

Please, if you are in the market, call Ken Rodenas at Western Ohio Mortgage at (513) 874-1042 ext. 228 and tell him how you got his number. There is no doubt he will be able to help you with anything you need...and if not, I'm sure there is a good reason and he can refer you to someone who can help you.

Oh, and if you have some spare time, ask him about his interest in the music industry. You will be BLOWN over!

Now the Real work begins!

As of around 7:00 last night (after signing about a bazillion forms) it was official. We're are in debt up to our eye balls. But, it feels good!

Our Friday began rather quickly as we had our last walk-through with Dave Bauer and laid out some preliminary plans for today (temporary electric pole) and what will take place Monday (mass chaos!).

To our surprise, the demolition and framing is going to go very quickly.

A quick timeline: Monday/Tuesday roof comes off. Wednesday start framing second story. Within two weeks they'll be roofing the house. That's how quickly this is going to be under cover again. This all assumes the weather cooperates though.

This way to our house!

Today's the Day!

Well the moment we've been waiting for since January is finally upon us. It's "Sign Your Life Away" day. At 6:00 pm Allyson and I will be in debt (again). This time will probably be forever. Sounds like fun. Where do I sign???

Anyway, here are a few more before and after pics. I'm going to try (key word "try") to post some video I shot last night. Not sure how that's going to go. Wish me luck...

Update: Well apparently I'm not having any luck with video today. I might try later if I get some time. Sorry!

Our room before...

After. If you could only see the path the dogs wore in the carpet. It was nasty!! Thankfully the steam cleaner took care of that.

This is where the Escape is usually parked...

And this happened in the middle of the day with NO rain or wind. Scary! It's one of the only bad things about living where we do. We've had more than our share of fallen limbs and entire trees for that matter. Guess we have to cross our fingers and have good insurance.

(Final) moving day

This morning we packed up the rest of the junk from the basement and stuff we're not keeping...

just in case you didn't believe me. You missed out on your chance for a beautiful (ugly) new (old) computer table.

Later tonight...the doggies official make their move. Oh boy that's going to be fun! Or not...

New poll question

With the start date of Friday July 10 and the estimated time being 4 to 6 months there is a possibility of not being back in our old/new house by Christmas. Obviously it would be a great Christmas present, but there is always the chance it just won't happen. With an older house you just never know what can pop up during the construction.

So, what do you think? Will we make it back in by Christmas? Vote on the right side of the page-------->

More dismantling

Gone from the kitchen are the oven as seen here...

And the dishwasher as seen here...

Honestly these pics were taken a few weeks ago. In fact, with the closing date upon us (Thursday), basically the house is empty. Maybe if I get a chance I'll take some better pictures tonight. For now, use your imagination.

Just for fun...

Hope everyone had a great 4th of July!

All the "kids" did!

Even the "older" ones!

We're movin' out

Obviously with them taking our roof completely off, we need to get everything out. And as of this very morning there is just one thing in there that needs to come out - the kitchen table. If you are interested, here are a few more before and after pics.

The dude's room...

...is now gone. It will be upstairs in the new house and this room will be transformed into an office (sounds important doesn't it?)

Our family room before...

Our family room after...

Office...

Now...

Anyone need/want an old ugly computer table? (Chair not included)

Before and after

If you have an older house that has one of these in it...

and want to get rid of it, call Dan Davis at 513-258-1240 and tell him I sent you. For a very reasonable fee, he will take it away (as long as it fits through the door).

See? Gone!
